In a show of sportsmanship, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has congratulated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state over the latter’s victory at the Supreme Court on Friday, May 12.
In a congratulatory message to Ikpeazu, Ogah said that though the apex court verdict was painful, he has accepted the decision in good faith.
“Even though a painful verdict, as someone that believes in the rule of law and the judiciary, I have accepted the decision of the apex court in good faith,” Ogah said. He thanked his numerous supporters who stood by him throughout the legal battle and urged them to join hands with Ikpeazu to move the state forward.
“May I specially thank my teeming supporters for standing by me all through this journey and may I also use this golden opportunity to congratulate His Excellency, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, governor of Abia state and urge all Abians to join hands in supporting the governor in order to move our dear state forward,” he said.
Ogah further stated that he was particularly happy that he never encouraged violence nor encouraged his supporters to indulge in any form of violence during his struggle to validate his mandate.
“As the legal battle comes to an end with the Supreme Court’s declaration, I’m exceedingly happy today that in the course of this struggle, I never resorted to self-help nor encouraged my supporters to indulge in any form of violence either in my state or elsewhere,” he said.
