The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District, Mr Amobi Akintola has cleared the air on a rumour making round.
Akintola said Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke did not eat any food at the burial of his grandmother, Late Bilikisu Salimonu, on Saturday, April 22.
There had been rumours that the late senator was poisioned at the event, prompting some people to accuse Akintola of complicity in the senator’s death.
Akintola said this on Monday, May 15 while giving evidence before a coroner ordered by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to probe the cause of Adeleke’s death,
The APC chieftain said the late senator attended the burial ceremony in company with about 30 political aides and allies. He stated that while Adeleke’s aides and allies ate, the late senator did not eat the food they were served. He also said he served Adeleke Remmy Martins, but the senator brought his own Remmy Martins from his vehicle which he drank together with his friends.
Also speaking, the chief medical director of Biket Hospital, Osogbo, Dr. Adebisi Adenle said Adeleke was brought to his hospital dead on Sunday, April 23.
