A possible ritual murder of a young girl identified as Faith in a Bayelsa State hotel has sparked outrage
as youths from the area took to the streets on Monday. The name of the hotel is De New Wapo Hotel located in Biogbolo Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
The traders within the area were forced to close their business premises as the unfavorable atmosphere affected their businesses.
The aggrieved indigenes were wielding weapons, scaring off non-indegenes and passerbys, and have vowed to avenge the killing of their kinswoman.
However, Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba, dispatched a hand full of the state policemen to the area to maintain the peace.
The suspect was identified as a former tenant to the victim’s father, who lured the girl into his hotel room on Friday and murdered her. However, various versions of this sordid story has emerged also. One of those versions was that the deceased girl tried to resist sexual advances made towards her by the man and was stabbed 3 times in the chest before the man fled. And according to another version, the suspect drugged his victim and cut off her breasts in a desperate attempt to use her for ritual.
